As Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice proclaimed in their 2023 hit, it’s a “Barbie world” – at least it is according to the good folks at the Critics Choice Awards.
Just two days after dominating the Golden Globe nominations, the CCAs took to press Wednesday (December 13) to unveil the nods for their show’s 29th annual ceremony and the Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-led film ‘Barbie‘ racked up a whopping 18 mentions including in Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay categories (easily making them the year’s most nominated).
Elsewhere, favorites like ‘The Color Purple,’ Danielle Brooks, Sterling K. Brown, and Colman Domingo saw their names listed in competition for some of the event’s top prizes.

I learned that they didn’t keep with Broadway’s iteration of Ceelie and instead opted for a revised version. All I know is Fantasia was stellar on Broadway and got rave reviews. Sounds like the decision to change might have been a costly decision.
